AI conversation agent working hours schedule — intelligent automation that respects your business hours

Product Update: Set Business Hours for Your AI Conversation Agent

September 11, 2026

Your AI Agent Just Got a Work Schedule

An AI conversation agent that runs around the clock sounds like a feature. But for many businesses, it creates a different kind of problem: customers reaching out at midnight, getting an AI response, and then wondering why no one follows up the next day. Or an agent responding outside your service window and setting expectations your team can't meet.

Working Hours for Attractzen's AI conversation agent solves this directly. You now control exactly when your AI agent is active, which channels it covers, and what happens to every customer who reaches out when the agent is off the clock.

What You Can Configure

Working Hours is built for real business schedules — the kind that don't always run 9-to-5, five days a week.

  • Custom hours per day — set different active windows for Monday through Sunday, and add multiple time slots for businesses with split shifts or mid-day breaks
  • Channel-by-channel control — apply your schedule to specific channels like SMS, Email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Chat Widget, or Live Chat; leave others running 24/7 if that's what makes sense for your business
  • Contact or business timezone — run your schedule based on where your customer is located or lock it to your business timezone

What Happens After Hours

This is where Working Hours goes from a simple on/off switch to a complete after-hours experience.

  • Off-hours auto-reply — automatically acknowledge customers who message outside your active hours with a custom message that sets the right expectation. Personalize it using contact data so it feels like a real response, not a generic notification
  • After-hours contact tagging — automatically tag anyone who reaches out outside business hours so your team can identify, filter, and follow up with them easily
  • Team notifications — send email alerts to specific team members, admins, or the assigned user when an after-hours message comes in, so nothing slips through
  • Automatic follow-up when you reopen — if a customer reached out after hours and hasn't heard back from either your AI agent or your team, Attractzen can automatically send a follow-up the moment business hours resume

Conversations Already in Progress

If a conversation started during your working hours, your AI agent can continue replying past closing time until that conversation goes inactive. This prevents a jarring mid-conversation silence just because the clock ticked past your end time.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Working Hours is completely optional. If you don't enable it, your agent continues responding at any time exactly as it does today. When it is enabled, it only applies to the channels you select — every other channel keeps running normally.

The auto-reply, tags, and notifications fire once per closed period — not once per message. So a customer who sends three texts after hours gets one acknowledgement, not three. And the business-hours follow-up is skipped automatically if your AI agent or a team member already responded.

Each AI agent has its own Working Hours configuration, which means different agents in your account can operate on completely different schedules. Your lead-response agent might run 24/7, while a billing or support agent only activates during office hours.

Why This Matters

AI that runs without boundaries can create customer experience problems that take time to untangle. Working Hours gives you the control to keep your AI agent aligned with how your business actually operates — while making sure no after-hours contact is lost, ignored, or left without a response.
